Character Bible
2023
Los Angeles
In this project, I focused on creating a Character Bible, where half of the work involved research and writing, and the other half consisted of drawing an existing character in five different art styles. The styles I was given were: Pop Art, Romanticism, Art Nouveau, Constructivism, and Realism. The main aim was to experiment with these styles while ensuring the character’s personality and core traits remained consistent across each version.
Through this project, I gained a deeper understanding of various art styles and realized that while I can’t master every style, I am capable of working in several styles outside of my usual approach. This helped expand my artistic abilities. The sketching process came easily as I could quickly visualize how the final versions would look, but the realism style was particularly challenging since it was new to me. Despite this, I was able to create a decent representation of the character.
If I were to redo this project, I would focus on adding more dynamic shading and lighting to enhance the visual depth, rather than relying on basic shading as I did originally.
